When each child is baptized we promise to faithfully bring them into God's house, teach them the Lord's Prayer, the Creed, the Ten Commandments and provide in their instruction in the Christian faith.
Sunday School is at 9 a.m. each Sunday morning for children in preschool through fifth grade. Our Sunday school alternates opening in the church, with a children's sermon, or in Good Shepherd Hall. Please see Ms. Saundra Juliano for information regarding your child and check the calendar for dates.
Our children's program provides many opportunities for children to learn about God through our weekly Sunday school program. We have many fun activities during the year for our young school-aged children and thier families such as Rally Day, Advent Wreath Making, Breakfast with St. Nicholas, Vacation Bible School and various mission projects. Sunday School will suspend from June 1 to September 7 for summer. Families are encouraged to have their children sit with them in church for weekly worship.
As our children grow into young adults they assume greater responsibility in the life of our Christian community. Through confirmation our youth have the opportunity to make public profession of their own faith.
Confirmation classes are for sixth through eighth graders and are held Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 pm during the school year. The students meet for pizza and fellowship from 6:30 to 7 pm and class meets from 7 to 8:30 pm. Each night's program involves a scripture based lesson from the Old and New Testaments or from Luther's Small Catechism and then a "living out your faith" project where students engage in activities such as sorting and putting together Thanksgiving dinner bags for the local food pantry, making and baking Communion bread, and wrapping gifts for Operation Christmas Child."
There are so many activities and mission projects for the confirmation students that they can't wait to meet each week! If you have questions regarding our confirmation program please contact Deacon Gavin Schwen.
Our post-confirmation teens meet monthly for worship and fellowship and enjoy other outside activities and mission work. In 2016, our youth mission service project took place in Lynn, MA. The young adults get together to hang out - whether it's at a restaurant, bowling or a coffee shop. We have recently started a college outreach program to aid in maintaining connections with our young adults after high school graduation. We continue the bonds that we share in Christ Jesus and have a great time. For more information check out our calendar or contact Deacon Gavin Schwen.
