WELCOME

On behalf of our church family, I’d like to extend a special welcome to our visitors.

My hope and prayer for visitors and regular attendees is that our interactions will bring glory to God.

Our church is a place where everyone is welcome to worship no matter what their background

or how they choose to express themselves.

Your presence in our congregation is truly a blessing, and we look forward to praying, celebrating,

and coming together as a community in the eyes of our Lord.

If you would like to take part in any of our ministries at Abiding Presence Church,

please contact Pastor Robert Schoepflin at 631-269-6454.

PASTA AND THE WORD/COAT DRIVE

We find ourselves busy with holiday preparations, but I hope you will remember that Pasta and the Word is a constant - Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall, we continue to serve our brothers and sisters in Wyandanch on the 4th Saturday of the month. If you've been away for a while, welcome home. If you have friends or family who you think might be interested, please invite them. Personally, I always love to see our college students help out on Thanksgiving weekend. It is a wonderful opportunity to re-connect to Abiding Presence and share their stories about college.

I'm excited to share that we will distribute coats and warm outerwear throughout the entire month of December (heavy duty sweatshirts - with and without hoodies). Please share your clean, gently worn donations with those in need. There is a collection bin in the coat closet located in the narthex of the church.

Of course, we are primarily in need of you - your food donations and your time. If you are able to volunteer onsite or provide a tray of pasta or meatballs or brown bag lunches, please let us know. Here is the wish list of items needed for this meal:

Trays of cooked pasta

Fresh or frozen meatballs

Forks, knives and spoons

Paper napkins

Jarred pasta sauce

Boxes of pasta

(ziti, penne or farfalle type - please no long spaghetti or linguine)

Complete brown bag lunch - includes sandwich, snack, fruit and water.

(If you are making complete lunch bags, please write the type of sandwich on the outside paper bag)

APLC WOMEN'S BOOK CLUB

The APLC Women's Book Club is currently reading The Keeper of Lost Things by Ruth Hogan.

A charming, clever, and quietly moving debut novel of endless possibilities and joyful discoveries. Anthony Peardew has spent half his life collecting lost objects, trying to atone for a promise broken many years before. The Keeper of Lost Things is a heartwarming tale that will enchant fans of The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake, Garden Spells, Mrs. Queen Takes the Train, and The Silver Linings Playbook. Our next meeting is planned for Thurs December 14. Contact Karen Wallin for more information.

All are welcome!

ADOPT-A-FAMILY

Once again, we at Abiding Presence can celebrate Advent, the coming of our Lord Jesus with the joyful experience of sharing with those in need. In our immediate area there are parents who without our help would face the despair of having to tell their children that there will be no gifts on Christmas morning because there is not enough money to pay for food, heat, and utilities.

We will again turn this sad situation into one of joy as we follow Jesus' example of caring for other’s needs. Our "Adopt-a-Family" Christmas tree will soon be on display in the narthex full of gift tags for wished-for toys and needed items of clothing for the children of these families.

If you wish to take part in celebrating the birth of Jesus in this special way, take a tag(s) from the tree displayed in the narthex at church and sign your name on the sheet next to the tag number.

Purchase the special gift called for on the tag(s) and bring it to church by Friday, December 15th, unwrapped, with the gift tag(s) attached to the outside, and place it under the tree.

If you would like to make a monetary donation, please visit our GIVING page here.

SUNDAY SCHOOL CHRISTMAS PAGEANT

Our Sunday school Christmas pageant will be on Sunday, December 17 during worship at 9:00 am.

We hope that your child(ren) will participate in sharing the true meaning of Christmas.

Letters and registration forms were mailed to families with children in grades N3 – 5.  Additional forms are on the table in the narthex at church or can be downloaded below.
