MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP BEACH WALK

The Beach Walk will take place on Monday, August 5 from 3 pm – 7 pm. We will begin at Sunken Meadow Parking Lot 3 and end at Jenn’s Bench at the Bluff.

MELODIC HERITAGE CONCERT

‘Cellist Madeleine Corrigan is a recipient of the 2024 Summer Project in Music Grant from the Marinus and Minna B. Koster Foundation, awarded by the American University Music Department. With this grant, she has organized a concert series alongside fellow American University alumnus, Bailey Hobbs, piano, and Luke Stowell, voice, and will be performing at Abiding Presence on Sunday, August 11th, at 3:00pm.


 “Musical Heritage” explores the transfusion of folk melodies into Western classical music, and the intersection of folk tradition and vocal traditions. Featuring works by composers De Falla, Handel, Hailstork, Liszt, Poulenc, and Rachmaninoff, this program is designed to challenge notions of the musical “voice.” In their collaboration, the musicians will show that many instruments can share in the legacies of oral tradition.


This performance is free and open to the congregation and the public, and refreshments are to follow the hour-long program.

VBS 2024 - SCUBA diving into friendship with God

Plans are being made for children to have a great VBS experience making new friends, singing and playing, making crafts and snacks all while learning Bible stories and growing in faith.

We kindly ask that purchased items be brought to the church during office hours of

9 am and 1 pm and are delivered by Friday, August 9. I am happy to coordinate a different pick-up option if you cannot make it when the church is open.

Children in grades 6 and above can sign up as volunteers to help!

PASTA AND THE WORD

The date has changed from the 4th to the 3rd Saturday of each month.  We will continue to serve our brothers and sisters in Wyandanch from 10:00am - 2:00pm. The next opportunity to serve is Saturday, August 17th.  If you are interested and able to help, or just want more information, please call Lisa McCaffrey at 631-670-7555.


Of course, we are primarily in need of you - your food donations and your time. If you are able to volunteer onsite or provide a tray of pasta or meatballs or brown bag lunches, please let us know. Here is the wish list of items needed for this meal:


Trays of cooked pasta

Fresh or frozen meatballs

Forks, knives and spoons

Paper napkins

Jarred pasta sauce

Boxes of pasta

 (ziti, penne or farfalle type - please no long spaghetti or linguine)

Salad fixings - including lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, croutons

Complete brown bag lunch - includes sandwich, snack, fruit and water. 

(If you are making complete lunch bags, please write the type of sandwich on the outside paper bag)

 -OR-

Lunch components:

Sandwiches - PBJ or meat and cheese

(preferably turkey, chicken or beef bologna, no ham please)

Whole fruit or fruit cup

Water bottles

Snack

 (cookies or chips)

Brown lunch bags

Sandwich and snack size zipper lock bags
